H.H. the Dalai Lama schedule

Note: Below is the public schedule of His Holiness the Dalai Lama both in India as well as abroad. Please note that for many of these events, tickets are required in order to gain entrance. People are requested to contact the organizers directly or visit the websites given below for further information on tickets. In general, most of the events in India are free where as the majority of events abroad require paid tickets. For your information, as a long-standing policy His Holiness the Dalai Lama does not accept any fees for his talks. Where tickets need to be purchased, organizers are requested by our office to charge the minimum entrance fee in order to cover their costs only. Please note that the below dates are subject to change.

2012

Teachings in Padum, Zanskar (Ladakh), J&K, India from July 29 to 31: His Holiness will be giving a three-day teaching on Gyalsey Thokmay Sangpo’s 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva (gyalsey laklen sodunma) and Geshe Langri Thangpa’s Eight Verses on Training the Mind (lojong tsik gyema) as well as confer an Avalokiteshvera Initiation (chenresig wang). The teaching date of July 29 is tentative.

Talk to Ladakh Youth in Leh, Ladakh, J&K, India on July 27: His Holiness will give a general talk to students from various schools in Ladakh in the morning at the main grounds of Lamdon School, Leh.

Teachings in Leh (Ladakh), J&K, India from August 4 to 7: His Holiness will be giving a four-day teaching on Tsongkhapa’s The Three Principal Paths (lamtso namsum) and Atisha’s Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (jangchup lamdron) at Shewatsel Grounds in Leh. He will also confer anAvalokiteshvera Initiation (thukje chenpo jigten wangchuk wang).

Teachings in Dharamsala, HP, India from September 4 to 6: His Holiness will continue teachings from Chapter 5 onwards on Shantideva’s A Guide to the Boddhisattva’s Way of Life (chodjug) at the request of a group of Southeast Asians at the Main Tibetan Temple. His Holiness has completed teaching up to Chapter 4. Contact Website: www.tibetanbc.org

Visit to Dehradun Area, Uttarakhand, India from September 14 to 17: His Holiness will visit Mindroling Monastery on the morning of September 14. He will visit Drikung Jangchup Ling Monastery on September 15 morning. He will visit Sakya Rinchenling Nunnery on September  16 morning. On September 17, His Holiness will participate in the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Tibetan Homes Foundation in Mussoorie.

Teachings in Dharamsala, HP, India from October 1 to 4: His Holiness will give four days of teachings at the request of a group of Taiwanese at the Main Tibetan Temple.

Public Talk in Cambridge, MA, USA on October 14: His Holiness will give a public talk onBeyond Religion: Ethics, Values and Wellbeing in the afternoon. Contact Website:www.thecenter.mit.edu

Teachings in Cambridge, MA, USA on October 16: His Holiness will give teachings onKamalashila’s The Middling Stages of Meditation (gomrim barpa) in the morning as part of the 10th year celebration of Prajnopaya at the Massachusetts of Technology. Teachings in Dharamsala, HP, India from October 29 to 31: His Holiness will give three days of teachings on Chapter 24 of Nagarjuna’s Fundamental Treatise of the Middle Way (uma tsawai sherab) at the request of a group of Koreans at the Main Tibetan Temple.

Teachings in Dharamsala, HP, India from November 20 to 21: His Holiness will give two days of teachings at the request of a group of Mongolians at the Main Tibetan Temple.

Teachings in Mundgod, Karnataka, India from November 30 to December 13: His Holiness will give fourteen days of teachings on 18 Great Stages of the Path (Lam Rim) Commentaries, including Atisha’s Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (jangchup lamdron), Tsongkhapa’s Great, Middling, and Concise Treatises on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (lamrim chenmo, lamrim dringpo and lamrim dudon), and 14 other classic Lam Rim texts at Gaden Monastery and Drepung Monastery at the request of H.E. Teachings in Dharamsala, HP, India from December 24 to 26: His Holiness will give three days of teachings on Shantideva’s A Guide to the Boddhisattva’s Way of Life (chodjug) and confer aMedicine Buddha Empowerment (menlha wang) at the request of a group of Russians at the Main Tibetan Temple.

2013

Teachings in Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh, India from January 7 to 10: His Holiness will give four days of teachings (topic yet to be decided). The teachings will be held near the Central University of Tibetan Studies.

Teachings in Dharamsala, H.P., India on February 25: His Holiness will give a short teaching from the Jataka Tales in the morning at the Main Tibetan Temple.

Spring Teachings in Dharamsala, H.P., India in February: The annual spring (monlam) teachings starting on the 16th day of the 1st Tibetan month will not be given this year.
